About me:
From record collector to radio presenter (DJ?!)
I was fascinated by music from a very young age, around 12 or 13, in the late 1970s. My youth was spent wandering around record shops, where I spent every penny I had saved on cassettes, vinyl and later CDs. While my peers followed the mainstream, I discovered my passion for sounds that stood out from the norm: the groundbreaking works of Mike Oldfield, the futuristic sounds of Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, and the progressive arrangements of Supertramp, Genesis, and Pink Floyd shaped my musical horizons and made me an outsider in my circle of friends.
In the early 1990s, music took a back seat for around 25 years. My family, my career and renovating my house took up all my attention. The constant stream of the same songs on the radio reinforced this distance until I eventually stopped listening to the radio altogether – an attitude I have maintained to this day.
The return to passion and Radio Artland
It was only in 2020, through Radio Artland, that I found my way back to consciously engaging with music. It was a rediscovery of my early love that rekindled the flame within me. Since October 2023, I have been a proud member of the Radio Artland team and now have the privilege of actively sharing my musical discoveries and favourites with others.
Professionally, I am deeply rooted in Artland, where I run my own workshop as a wood construction engineer specialising in monument preservation. I have been living in Quakenbrück for almost three years, which gives me an even closer connection to the regional music scene.
My story is proof that true passions never disappear completely, but only wait for the right moment to be rekindled.
