Gisbert was a DJ at the cult disco Fiz Oblon in the 1980s. He also co-owned the record label Outatune Records and released records with Surplus Stock, The Orthotonics, Diagram Brothers and others. He discovered the band Cliff Barnes and the Fear of Winning, made them famous in Germany and organised their first tours.
He is very knowledgeable about progressive music, early punk and new wave, alternative and, to some extent, early jazz. Some have also seen him DJ at the Musicland Party in Restrup, the My Temptation Party in Osnabrück, the Freak Out Party in Cloppenburg and the DJ Night in Jever. Gisbert enjoys his role as a music archaeologist. He enjoys digging up old treasures from the 1930s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s and will present original finds in his programmes that you have long forgotten or never heard before. He wants to make connections audible and bring music history to life.
Gisbert is also a specialist in old alternative discos and has written several articles on the subject. In addition, he wrote the book ‘Nachts im Fiz Oblon’ (Nights at Fiz Oblon) about the history of the music club, which was published in 2023 by Edition Oelkers (including a contribution by Michael Hengehold).
